The product inventory is managed at product level, so the settings and available quantities are editable via a new tab that will be added to the product form.
Since products with children could manage its available quantity by child, there are actually to possible configurations for the edition screen depending on the product type.

¶ General Details
The new tab is going to be placed at the end. For example, for configurable products it will be after "Variants" and for simples will be after "Gallery".
The new tab as the label "Inventory".
All fields are not required.
¶ Single Edition Screen
This screen applies to types all product type except for configurables.
¶ Multiple Edition Screen
This screen applies only to configurable products.
Take into account that this screen version for multiple qties is going to be implemented in a second phase. Meanwhile, configurable products are going to use the single edition screen.
